Mama's Zesty Lime Slapped Chicken Legs

Mama's Zesty Lime Slapped Chicken Legs
by Gary Gee

3 pounds chicken legs
3 Tablespoons olive oil, divided
2 Tablespoons worcestershire sauce
salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 cup Stubb's Original Bar-B-Q sauce
1 Tablespoon agave nectar or honey
1 lime, zested and juiced

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a shallow pan, coat chicken with 2 tablespoons oil and worcestershire sauce. Rub all over to moisten evenly. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, Slap Ya Mama Seasoning, cumin, and garlic powder. Toss to coat evenly.

In a grill pan or skillet over medium heat, brown chicken in remaining oil, turning carefully to ensure even browning, about 10 minutes. Move to oven.

Combine barbecue sauce, nectar or honey, plus more Slap Ya Mama Seasoning to taste. (Hint: combine this mixture in the pan used to season the chicken, picking up any seasonings left behind) Brush liberally on chicken pieces; turn and repeat. Continue baking chicken until evenly browned and cooked through, about 40 minutes.

Remove chicken to serving platter. Drizzle with fresh lime juice and sprinkle with zest. Serve immediately.
