Gingerbread Cookies


Gingerbread Cookies

3/4 cup shortening
1 egg
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup molasses
2 1/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon cloves

Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Cream the shortening, egg and brown sugar. Add the rest of the ingredients except molasses. make sure the ingredients are combined well before stirring in the molasses. Roll into teaspoon size balls and roll in sugar. Push down with a fork. Bake for 10 minutes (do not over bake). Once out of the oven, dot with butter. Eat hot.
